The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Stephen Amoah has said, the people within the greater Kumasi should minimize the pressure on the New Patriotic Party (NPP), government for developmental infrastructures.
The people of Greater Kumasi and Ashanti Region as a whole alone contributed 1,795,824 out of the total votes of 6,730,413 the NPP accumulated in the 2020 Ghana’s general elections. Electorates in the region believe that, since they contributed immensely to the victory of NPP, the region must be well developed than it is today.
The people as a result have persistently called on the President Nana Addo’s led NPP government to fix all deplorable roads of the region.
But, the MP for Nhyiaeso constituency believes that, Kumasi people are throwing too much pressure on the government.
According to Sticka as popularly called, the NPP cannot solve everyone’s problems even if they are given 40 years to rule the country. For this the pressure exerted on the government should be decreased.
“Kumasi people should exercise patience…. Even if you bring on ‘Tony Blair’ (Ex American President) to rule for 20-40 years, he can’t solve everyone’s problems.” The legislator stated on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, Friday.
He further chided the Kumasi residents over some speculated statement that, the NPP has taken them for granted; the party regards them as “villagers”.
“The claim that NPP regards Kumasi people as villagers is not true, it is not the best so they should not pressure government too much for development because everything is done in a process.”
Sticka declared again that, the people with Ashanti should not repeat the 2008 mistake where NPP lost power to biter rivals, NDC else they will severely suffer the consequence if NPP loses power again in 2024 polls.
“….When we go to opposition a lot of you (Kumasi residents) will regret it; a lot of you will die.” Dr. Stephen Amoah revealed on the show.
