Ghanaians often express skepticism about celebrity marriages, some even predicting how long a union will last. However, actress Mercy Asiedu is defying these odds.
She tied the knot with Nana Agyemang Badu Duah, Chief of Kunsu and CEO of Messiah Productions, on April 2, 2017.
Seven years into their marriage, Mercy shared the secret to her enduring relationship during an interview with Emelia Brobbey on the Okukuseku Show.
When asked about her marital success, Mercy credited patience as the key to her blissful seven-year union, offering a valuable lesson in the importance of this virtue in sustaining a happy marriage.
“My husband and I have been married for seven years now. One of the secrets behind a good marriage is patience. When I was young, although I wasn’t old enough to get married, I used to go for women’s fellowship, and during one of the services, a pastor said when his church members come to him for marriage counselling, especially the women, he tells them that a successful marriage depends on the wife.
An example is, let’s say, your husband went out and has kept you longing to return home. Out of anger, you refused to set the table for him, and when he asked you, you rudely directed him to the kitchen to serve himself. When your actions begin to generate issues, you will blame your husband for not being a good husband. In every marriage, you have to act like a fool,” she said.
“I have said to myself that in this marriage, the only time I will take my ring off is when I die. Even with that, my husband will be the one to take it off. This is because I don’t know what will make me leave my marriage. Maybe unless my husband runs away from me, but if he doesn’t, then I am stuck with him,” she added.
The Kumawood actress used the platform to express gratitude to her husband for how he has been supportive of every project she has undertaken relating to her career.
