The Medical and Dental Council has arrested four individuals for practising medicine without registration.
The suspects include:
– Kate Baidoo (Osag Medical Centre, Nsakena)
– Ebenezer Koomson (E & E Medical Centre, Gomoa Afransi)
– Innocent Tagbovi (Mighty Clinic, Madina)
– Ebenezer Sarpong (Goodcare Medical Centre, Swalaba Bukom)
Speaking at the press briefing, Dr. Devine N. Banyubala, Registrar, Medical and Dental Council, revealed that a total of 28 cases are currently being handled, with 9 active cases under investigation across the country.
As part of its mandate under the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act 857, the Medical and Dental Council is committed to combating quackery and forgery in the health sector.
Through monitoring exercises, the Council verifies practitioners’ registration status, ensures adherence to professional standards, and safeguards public health and safety nationwide.
Dr. Devine N. Banyubala seized the opportunity to thank the Ministry of Health, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and other ministries and agencies for their support and collaboration in enhancing the Council’s regulatory activities.
