Ghana has renewed its dedication to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the official launch of its latest Voluntary National Review (VNR) Report.
The launch event, held on Tuesday, July 8, brought together President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and key development partners.
Following the event, the Vice President shared her reflections on its significance on her official Facebook page.
“Today, I joined the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to launch Ghana’s Voluntary National Review (VNR) Report on the implementation of the SDGs. Present were CSOs who indicated their commitment to the SDGs in Ghana and globally.”

In his address, President Mahama emphasised the magnitude of the challenge ahead as Ghana strives to achieve its development objectives.
He singled out healthcare as a top priority, particularly the urgent need to eliminate preventable maternal deaths and to ensure equitable access to health services for all citizens.
“Of particular relevance to him was the need to reduce the maternal mortality rate to zero and to make healthcare accessible to all Ghanaians regardless of where they reside,” the Vice President noted.
The VNR Report represents Ghana’s self-assessment of progress made on the SDGs and outlines strategies for closing remaining gaps.
