Enoch Abram, a Master Guide of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at Buduburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, has died after a heroic attempt to rescue two children who were drowning during a beach outing at Kokrobite in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The tragic incident occurred during a church picnic, where Mr. Abram was spending time with friends from a neighbouring district.
According to a report by Oyerepa News correspondent Nana Ansah, the two children were swept away by strong waves, prompting the deceased to act without hesitation.
He plunged into the water and successfully brought both children to safety.
However, he was overwhelmed by the powerful waves and submerged.
About 30–40 minutes later, after prayers, his body was retrieved from the water with a very weak pulse. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
A member of the church, who wished to remain anonymous, told Nana Ansah: “The deceased joined the district picnic at Kokrobite Beach with colleagues, where two children were reportedly swept away by heavy waves. He got submerged after successfully rescuing the children.”
