A 26-year-old fashion designer, Mabel Asantewaa, has been tragically killed by her boyfriend at Kalabule Chinese, near the Kasoa Tollbooth in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
Police reports indicate that the suspect, 28-year-old carpenter Bra Sammy, allegedly attacked Mabel in a washroom after she declined his request for sex, explaining that she was menstruating. The disagreement quickly escalated, leading to the suspect stabbing her multiple times.
Following the attack, Bra Sammy is said to have ingested a poisonous substance in an attempt to take his own life. He was rushed to the Amanfrom Polyclinic, where he is receiving treatment under police guard.
Eyewitnesses expressed shock at the incident, noting that the couple appeared to have been on good terms before the tragedy.
The Weija Divisional Police Command has taken over the case and confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
