Mamprobi Polyclinic suspect arrested, newborn safely returned to mother

The Ghana Police Service in Dansoman has arrested a woman suspected of stealing a newborn from the Mamprobi Polyclinic, bringing relief to the infant’s family and the local community.

The baby was safely recovered and reunited with his mother at the police station before being taken to the polyclinic’s gynecology department, where she is receiving medical care.

The arrest follows the tense events of Tuesday afternoon, when the child’s father discovered the infant had been kidnapped. Videos circulating online showed the distraught father confronting hospital staff and demanding access to CCTV footage to identify the suspect. The footage reportedly captured the alleged thief in action, allowing police to respond swiftly.

Alfred Oko Vanderpuye played a key role in coordinating with both the police and hospital authorities to ensure the safe return of the child. The Gender Minister and other local MPs were also present during the reunion.

Family members expressed relief in an interview with Adom News. Authorities have assured the public that steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the alleged theft and whether the suspect acted alone or had accomplices.
