Former President John Dramani Mahama, who is currently the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is expected to lead a mega walk in the Ashanti region dubbed “The 24-hour Economy Walk” on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

This walk was initially scheduled to take place in December 2023 but was postponed due to the district-level elections.

However, the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) held a press conference spearheaded by Ashanti Regional Chairman Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi.
and other executives in the party on Thursday stated that the long-awaited mega walk is finally scheduled for Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the regional secretary of the party, Isham Alhassan, explained that the walk will be led by former President John Dramani Mahama, the party’s national chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, national executives, and regional executives headed by the regional chairman.

He added that the walk will be held on the principal streets of the Kumasi metropolis and finally end with a gathering at the Kumasi Jubilee Park, where former President Mahama will address the attendees.

John Mahama, after the walk, will again engage with various groups and associations in the region on the theme “Building the Ghana We Want Tour.”.

This session will see the NDC’s flagbearer have talks with these groups, including the business community, organized labor, and traders, among other larger groups.

The planned route for the walk is as follows: “Aboabo Post Office, through Pelele to On-the-Ran to Manhyia Hospital, proceeding to Alabar Street, Kejetia Roundabout, Hello FM, A-Life, Asafo Overpass, Labour Roundabout, and concluding at Jubilee Park.”

The presidential candidate will also use the opportunity to share with attendees his vision, policies, and ideas and to listen to the concerns of the grassroots.

Meanwhile, the party is hopeful of having a fruitful and successful interaction and to encourage and build a better connection with the people of the Ashanti region.

The party reiterated that they’re fully committed and poised to have the best of this walk, as all is set for the walk on January 24.
