The Chief of Abesewa, a community in the Ahafo Ano South East of the Ashanti Region, Nana Antwi Boasiako II, has appealed to Ghanaians and his people to vote overwhelmingly for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Addressing a gathering of community members on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Nana Antwi Boasiako II expressed his conviction, stating that he felt compelled to speak his mind and remind the people that Ghanaians made a mistake by voting out President Mahama in 2016 and denying him re-election in 2020.
“They say traditional leaders shouldn’t engage in politics, but let’s be realistic. Don’t we pay for our transportation? Do politicians reduce fuel prices for us when we go to the pump? Look at Manhyia, and see the number of people working there – do they get discounted electricity bills? Then why say Nananom (traditional leaders) shouldn’t do politics? We will indeed participate in it.”
Nana Antwi Boasiako II further emphasized his point, stating that he couldn’t stand idly by while the country’s situation worsened under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration when he knew that Former President John Mahama was a superior economic manager. “We only appreciated Mahama’s good works after he was voted out,” Nana Antwi Boasiako II stressed.
He continued, “To restore the country’s economy and return to normalcy, we must vote for Mahama on December 7, allowing him to continue his excellent work.” He highlighted some of Mahama’s achievements, including the construction of E-Blocks (with 13 in the Ashanti Region alone), the Kejetia Market, Afari Military Hospital, and Tepa Hospital, among others.
At the gathering, Nana Antwi Boasiako II also poured libation and offered fervent prayers for the victory of John Dramani Mahama and the Parliamentary Candidate, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, in Ahafo Ano South East. In his view, John Dramani Mahama is the only candidate who has proven himself to be a nation-builder and superior economic manager, unlike Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
