Ashanti Regional Communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sakina Oforiwaa, has asked the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Bawumia to apologise to late Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur over the 170 questions that were set for him in 2016.
Oforiwaa’s call for an apology follows Bawumia’s recent statement at a public lecture where he said, “As Vice-President, I am like a driver’s mate. But if, by the Grace of God, you make me President, I will be in the driver’s seat with constitutionally mandated authority to pursue my vision and my priorities.”
Speaking in a panel discussion on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Chaired by Kwesi Parker Wilson, the NDC communications team member stated that, if Bawumia is distancing himself from the economic mismanagement the NPP government has caused, then he must quickly look for Amissah’s grave and render an apology to him.
“Bawumia in his public lecture said the Vice President is just a ‘mate’, if that is so then he should look for late Vice President Amissah Arthur’s grave and render an apology. Because in 2016 Bawumia set up 170 economic questions and was chasing him (Amissah) all over for answers. At that time, did Bawumia not know that, if one is a Vice President, he or she had no total control of Ghana’s economy?
Late Amissah Arthur deserves an apology from Bawumia for setting up those questions for him.” Oforiwaa demanded.
Bawumia challenged Amissah Arthur during a public lecture in the 2016 election campaign by posing 170 economic questions. Bawumia held Amissah accountable for the NDC government’s challenges and demanded answers regarding the country’s economic downturn.
