Lil Win recounts dangerous movie stunt that nearly cost him his life

Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has recalled a frightening incident on a movie set that nearly left him with a serious neck injury about 15 years ago.

The Kumawood star said the incident occurred while he was portraying an armed robber and was required to perform a high-risk stunt involving a jump from a storey building.

According to Lil Win, the production did not have a professional stunt performer, leaving him to carry out the dangerous scene himself. He said the first jump went well, but a technical problem with one of three cameras forced him to repeat the stunt.

“I jumped for the first time and landed safely, but there were three cameras, and they told me that one of them had failed to capture the moment, so I had to jump again. The second time I jumped, there was a wire I hadn’t noticed, and I tripped over it. I could have landed on my neck, but because it wasn’t my time to die, I somehow managed to land awkwardly on my feet. The impact hurt badly,” he recalled.

Lil Win said the accident left him with significant pain in his leg, but he still travelled to Techiman later that day to honour a scheduled performance.

He explained that despite his condition, the event organiser wanted him to appear because fans were eager to see him and verify reports that he had been injured.

The revelation has highlighted the risks actors sometimes face on film sets, particularly when dangerous sequences are performed without trained stunt professionals. For Lil Win, what was intended as an ordinary movie scene became an experience he still remembers as a close call.
