Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II has asked chiefs of the Abuakwa Traditional Area to assist in rallying funds to build Ghana’s National Cathedral.
He stated that when completed, the National Cathedral will be a central place of worship for congregants from far and wide, allowing Christians to learn everything they need to know about their religion without having to travel to Israel.
He also stated that the cathedral will save President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from embarrassment.
“The President] has to glorify God and complete that building to show his appreciation to what God has done for him and that he appreciates it.”
The Okyenhene made these comments over the weekend during a visit to Kyebi by the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana.
The Board had arrived at the Okyenhene’s palace to solicit his backing for the project.
Board member Dr Joyce Aryee said the controversies surrounding the project are not surprising due to the aggression of “darkness” against the “light” anytime a Christian project is to be built.
She stated that the first traditional authority to be visited is the Okyenhene, who will be asked for assistance from Okyeman’s chiefs and people.
