The Member of Parliament for the Kwadaso constituency in the Ashanti region, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, has fired back at a political scientist, Professor Ransford Gyampo.
He further revealed that Prof. Gyampo, prior to the 2016 election, told him Nana Addo could not be president.
Prof. Gyampo, in a statement responding to the Kwadaso lawmaker’s comment made on Oyerepa TV on Wednesday, described Kingsley Nyarko as a coward and said it was madness for Dr. Kingsley Nyarko to make those pronouncements.
Dr Kingsley Nyarko, in a lengthy reply, stated that all he said about Prof. Gyampo was the truth.
“It’s true that I said on the show that you have indicated to me on several occasions during debates on the presidential elections that Nana Akufo-Addo cannot win the 2016 election and can’t be the president. You know, what I said about you is the truth. I said that without malice, but only the truth.” He stated.
He, however, challenged Prof. Gyampo to have the students and faculty of the University of Ghana assess their (Dr. Kingsley Nyarko and Prof. Ransford Gyampo) conduct and see who is credible.

Dear Ransford Gyampoh., I have read your rejoinder to the comment I made on Oyerepa TV this morning in response to your suggestion that the President doesn’t have the right to ask directors and other senior staff of the electoral commission to submit their curriculum vitae for scrutiny. I’m told this was a directive to all state-owned institutions and not only to the electoral commission.
It’s true I said on the show that you have indicated to me on several occasions during debates on the presidential elections that Nana Akufo-Addo cannot win the 2016 election and can’t be the president. You know, what I said about you is the truth. I said that without malice; but only the truth.
Being the man you claim to be, I least expected you to run away from the truth: that’s what cowards do any way. I stand by what I have said because it’s the truth and nothing else. What you have said about me are concocted lies.
Your second paragraph refers. That you voted for Akufo-Addo. I was not there so can’t fight you on that. But, I want to tell you that you are simply saying that to save your face.
Every discerning mind will know that you’re not being candid and sincere on that matter. I leave that to your conscience.
In your third paragraph, you refer to my comment as madness. Ransford, I’m sane and know what I’m saying and can put my head on the line about the comment. Why are you shying away from the truth? Strong men own up and stand by their words and actions.
What are you afraid of? You can be disappointed in the president. You have always been. But, the truth is that Nana Akufo-Addo is undoubtedly one of the best if not the best in the history of Ghana.
Prof. Gyampoh. I am not a coward. I have never been and you know that. You know me to be a bold, uncompromising and principled person unlike you. Let students and faculty of university of Ghana assess our conducts and see who is credible, has integrity and is principled.
You call me a gossiper? That I have gossip about my government and party to you before? This is a big lie. That’s the last thing I will do in this life. You know you’re lying and it’s all because I have stated that you said Akufo-Addo couldn’t win the 2016 elections and can’t be president.
Please, you have your own agenda against the government. You know what you’re doing and the end you want to achieve. Leave me out of your diabolical plans against the government. I have told you nothing about the party and government whether in public and in private. Be honest for once.
I have met you three times since I became a Member of Parliament. First in 2021 or 2022 on the matter of UTAG strike in your office on campus, early this year on a personal matter you called me where we met in your office and sometime last year in the house of a very close friend. Where did I discuss internal matters of the party or government with you? You don’t save lost reputation with lies, but the truth.
Ransford, I have never ever complained to you that I should have been appointed a minister in this administration. You know I’m a contented person and don’t fight for positions.
Anybody who knows me will attest to this. Nobody will believe these fabricated lies about me from your suro nipa house. In fact, suro nipa ampa. I always tell people that life choices are determined by God and it’s time. I have not complained to anybody and have not told you nor discussed with anybody that I’m more qualified than those appointed as ministers and deputy ministers in this administration. Never. This is a figment of your own imagination and meant to have a go at me because of the truth I said about you. How is it possible for me to be more qualified than the appointees? Does that make sense, Mr. professor?
These accusations are very unfortunate, unfounded, mischievous and unbefitting of someone of your caliber.
In your desperate attempt to exonerate yourself from something you have said, instead of eating a humble pie, you ended up further exposing and embarrassing yourself. See. Where did I say in the video that you hate Akufo-Addo. I said you said he can’t win the election. You wrote, “But, let’s assume for the purposes of argument that…… Nana Addo cannot be President (even though I voted for him), have you been satisfied with his presidency?”
The issue under consideration is that you said he can’t win the election or be president and not about his performance.
Gyampoh. I know me. Others know me. And those who know me, including you, know me to be credible, sincere, truthful, principled and of integrity
In fact, all that you have said about me are outright lies and fabrications meant to soothe your ego. I am beyond your style of politics and public engagement. Buddy, kindly up your game.
Have a good day.
Kingsley Nyarko, MP, Kwadaso.
