Renowned Ghanaian Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has announced his candidacy for the position of Student Representative Council (SRC) President at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
In a video making rounds on social media, the award-winning singer is seen actively campaigning on campus, engaging with fellow students ahead of the upcoming elections slated for May 30, 2025.
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at UPSA, Kwabena Kwabena becomes the latest in a wave of Ghanaian artistes stepping into student leadership. He follows in the footsteps of musicians like Samini, Guru, and Dr Cryme, who have all taken on similar roles at various universities.
Dr Cryme recently assumed the SRC presidency at Methodist University, while Guru currently serves in the same capacity at the University of Ghana. Samini also held the SRC president position at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) during the 2022/2023 academic year.
