A Kumasi High Court has ordered the President of Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union (KKFU), Fatima Ali to resume work despite a suspension placed on her by management.
Fatima Ali was suspended by the management of the Kuapa Kooko Cooperative Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Union for allegedly embezzling the licensed cocoa-buying company’s funds of GHC9 million.
The case presided over by Justice George Addae Krofa of the Kumasi High Court in February 2023 quashed the suspension.
Subsequently, Madam Fatima Ali has been ordered by the High Court to resume work.
The go-ahead is in relation to an order by the High Court (Suit no.11rc/10/202) signed by Justice of The High Court, George Krofa Addae Esq. to force open the gate/door of the official offices of Fatima Ali and recover the cars with registration numbers GE 278 17 GR 6274-17 and GR 7618-10.
“With the assistance of the Regional Police Command sit the gate or door of the office of the Elected President (Fatima Ali) of Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union (KKFU) and The Board Chairperson of Kuapa Kokoo Limited (KKL) be forced open and inventory of items in the office taken and access granted to the Elected President.” Part of the court’s order stated.
After a successful operation today, April 25, 2023, by the court with the assistance of the police at the Kuapa Kooko Cooperative Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Union head office in Asokwa-Kumasi, the KKFU president, Fatima Ali has officially resumed work.
Order for Interlocutory Injunction
The Kumasi High Court has also placed an injunction on the National Executive Council (NEC) of KKFU made up of 6 members namely, James Agyekum Kwarteng, David, Atta Boadu, Emmanuel Arthur, Ernest Boateng, Cecilia Appianim and Mary Kosi.
Injunction, Suit No. HRC/10/2023, NEC members, their assigns, agents, workmen and all other persons are restrained from interfering with the official performance and or operations of Kuapa Kokoo Limited and Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union.
Those holding themselves out as Board Members of Kuapa Kokoo Limited as acting President, Board Chairperson, Managing Director, NEC Members and using the said positions to organize meetings at the premisses KKFU are barred from their actions.
Again, they should not interfere with Fatima Ali regarding her performance with her official duty as Board Chairperson of KKL and President of KKFU until the final determination of the matter.
Meanwhile, Chairman of KKFU, Mr Stephen Afoakwa lauded the court’s order stating that, it will promote law and order in the company.
