Catholic priests from the Kumasi Archdiocese have expressed willingness to support the Ghana Movie Industry in reaching international success.

Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Effah Adjei, the Communications Director for the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi, along with Fr. Michael Owusu Kwarteng, who played a lead role in the upcoming movie ‘The Catholic Priest’, have stated that the Kumasi Archdiocese is prepared to contribute to the Ghana Movie Industry.

During a press conference for ‘The Catholic Priest: Touch Not My Anointed’ in Kumasi, Rev. Fr. Effah emphasized that priests are skilled in communication and acting in their own unique language. As a result, they are offering their services to film producers and directors who may want them to portray priestly roles in their movies.

“We are prepared to support the Ghanaian film industry in reaching new heights. If producers or directors require the presence of Catholic sisters or priests, we are willing to participate. we’re ready to avail ourselves because every work has its language, so we didn’t hesitate to feature in ‘The Catholic Priest’ movie. So if in any particular field, if we’re being asked to act for a movie, it’s good that we do.” Father Effah expressed this in an interview with Oyerepa Online.

He however encouraged other religious leaders to pick up certain roles related to their work to push the Ghana Movie Industry forward.

“Every pastor or man of God should accept roles in films related to their work to move the Ghana movie industry forward and spread the gospel”.

The esteemed Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Effah Adjei, who serves as the Communications Director for the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi, portrayed the role of Father Andrew in the highly anticipated movie, ‘The Catholic Priest; Touch Not My Anointed’. Again, Fr. Michael Owusu Kwarteng, the Assistant Priest at St. Peter’s Basilica in Kumasi, took on the lead character of Emmanuel.

Kumawood stars including Mary Afriyie Forson, Louisa Adinkra, Martha Joyce Arthur and Papa Nii as Bishop took major roles in “The Catholic Priest”

The movie produced by Helena Multimedia and Directed by Richmond Afrane will be premiered on June 28, 2024, at the prestigious SGM Mall in Kumasi.
