Some angry youth of Krapa-Akrofonso in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region have accused their Queen Mother (Ohemaa) Akua Dorowaa for unlawfully selling the community’s lands to foreigners.
At a press conference on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the irate youth led by Akwasi Poku stated that, the Ohemaa of Krapa-Akrofonso has sold almost all the plots of lands belonging to the Aduana family of the community.
According to the youth, the Krapa-Akrofonso community lacks developmental amenities and the plots of lands that were reserved to build schools, hospital, toilets and other facilities have been sold by Ohemaa Dorowaa.
Addressing the press, the youth expressed that, they have tried all means to stop the queen from the sales of the lands; however, she uses the police to arrest and intimidate them.
“Ever since our chief, Nana Kwadwo Owusu died, our queen mother and her elders have sold almost all the lands reserve for developmental projects. As youth of this community, we’ll not sit aloof for her to sell all our lands because in the future we might not get any place to build any infrastructure.”
For this reason they’re appealing to the overlord of Ashanti Kingdom, (Asantehene) Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to intervene or call Ohemaa Dorowaa to order.
“We’re pleading with our King, Otumfuo to intervene.”
They also are pleading with Asantehene to install a chief for the people of Krapa-Akrofonso to facilitate their development.
