The Chiefs and residents of Komenda Besease in the Komenda Municipality of the Central Region are deeply frustrated by the neglect they have experienced in terms of development. Over the years, they have felt ignored by various governments, and this sentiment has only been exacerbated by the time wasted in long voting queues.
One of the major concerns voiced by the residents is the deplorable state of their roads. Its poor condition makes it incredibly difficult to navigate, especially during rainy seasons. This issue has not only inconvenienced the community but has also provided an opportunity for armed robbers to take advantage of the situation.
Furthermore, the residents highlighted the impact on local farmers who are unable to transport their foodstuffs to neighbouring communities due to the inaccessible road. This has resulted in significant hardship for the community, as their livelihoods are heavily dependent on agriculture. The road is riddled with dust and potholes, and when it rains, it becomes a muddy mess, as one woman lamented.
The neglect experienced by the Chiefs and people of Komenda Besease is disheartening. The government must take immediate action to address the dire state of the road and provide the necessary support for the development of the community. By doing so, they can alleviate the hardships faced by the residents and foster a more prosperous and thriving environment for all.
“Toilet facility is a problem. Water, market and everything a town needs to develop is an issue here. Why would they take us for fools? We’re tired of them. Nobody should come here to campaign in 2024,” said a resident.
They said the lack of a hospital facility in the area has led to pregnant women being carried on motorbikes to access healthcare when they are due.
The residents therefore called on the authorities to as a matter of urgency provide them with a hospital, a market and a good road
