Clement Kofi Ohene Asare, an alumnus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has filed an appeal with the Kumasi Court of Appeal to remove Professor Akosua Dickson from her position as Vice-Chancellor.
This comes after the university’s council approved a two-year extension of Prof. Dickson’s term, starting August 1, 2024, and ending July 31, 2026.
Asare initially filed an injunction to halt the extension, citing concerns that the required process was not followed.
However, on July 30, 2024, the presiding judge, His Lordship Frederick Tetteh, dismissed the application, stating it lacked merit and questioning Asare’s status as an alumnus.
Dissatisfied with the ruling, Asare has now appealed to the Kumasi Court of Appeal to overturn the High Court’s decision and prevent Prof. Dickson from continuing as Vice-Chancellor of KNUST.
The appeal seeks to restrain Prof. Dickson from the position, citing irregularities in the extension process.
