The Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr. Samuel Pyne has disclosed his plans about Kumasi Children Park and Krofrom Market project.
According to the Mayor, his dream is to recreate the Children’s Park and complete Krofrom market.
“My dream is to complete Krofrom Market and redevelop Kumasi Children’s Park by the end of my turner in office as Mayor”. He stated in an interview with Nana Yaw Mensah Jowel on Oyerepa FM, Thursday, January 13, 2022.
Kumasi Children’s Park
It could be recall that the Assembly Member for the Afful Nkwanta Electoral area Otuo Acheampong recently bemoaned over the rate at which Kumasi Children’s Park has turned into a den for criminals and drug peddlers.
The abandoned Children’s Park has also been turned into a refuse dump including a dumping site for dead bodies.
Mr. Sam Pyne however confirmed the allegations by the Assembly member of the area on the show. He ndicated that three entities have been engaged for the recreation of the Kumasi Children’s Park.
Krofrom Market Project
The Krofrom market project which was commenced on in 2008 is intended to increase retail space in the Kumasi metropolis.
The structure, when completed, will have 72 open market stalls with 32 individual stalls.
There will be three shopping blocks which will have anchor spaces for banks, shops, retail outlets, leisure centre, warehouses, offices, clinics, pharmacies as well as police and fire station, a car park, auxiliary floors, daycare centre, refuse collection sites and toilet facilities.
But for over a decade, the project remains uncompleted.
Commenting on the Krofrom market, the mayor said, “I pray to complete the market before I leave office.”
