Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a former flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has donated GH¢1 million to the party’s national executives to support its activities while in opposition.
The donation aims to help the party settle four months’ worth of staff salary arrears and ensure the party’s vibrancy ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Agyapong emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stressing that it is crucial for the NPP’s success in the upcoming elections. “If NPP will come back to power, unless we are united, even if you bring Jesus Christ without unity, we cannot win the election,” he stated.
He urged the party’s national officers to ensure fairness and justice in all internal processes, particularly during elections for party positions.
Lawyer Justin Kodwo Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriot Party (NPP), thanked Kennedy Agyapong for the donation, assuring him that the funds would be used as intended.
The General Secretary highlighted Kennedy Agyapong’s track record of supporting the party, even in the early 2000s when he was not a Member of Parliament.
For his part, Mr. Stephen Ayensu Ntim, National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, praised Kennedy Ohene Agyapong for his commitment to unity, describing him as a formidable force for the party’s success.
He stated, “We see you as a key player in making this happen, and we’re committed to supporting anything that advances the party’s cause.”
He emphasized that the party will rely on Agyapong’s support, particularly in ensuring that internal elections promote unity rather than division. “During our internal elections, it shouldn’t be about winning or losing, but about coming together as one NPP, geared up for the general elections.”
