In an interview with Caleb Nii Boye on 3FM on Saturday, July 29, 2023, Ghanaian music producer Kaywa revealed that he wrote the lyrics for multiple award-winning gospel artiste Ohemaa Mercy’s hit single “Aseda.”
According to him, he was inspired to bring afrobeats to the gospel space after realizing that it was not being used in that genre. He said that his first attempt at this was with Diana Hamilton’s song “Work In Progress,” but he did not go all out with that song.
However, with “Aseda,” Kaywa said that he went all out and wrote the lyrics himself before asking Ohemaa Mercy to sing it. He also said that “Mo Ne Yo” is the third afrobeats gospel song that he has produced.
He stressed that he is proud to have set trends in the afrobeats gospel music space and that he does not want to follow trends. He also said that Ghanaians can expect an album from him in the future, but he may not sing on it.
“You should also get ready for an album from Kaywa. I’m not saying I’m going to be singing though. It’ll be featuring artistes. I’ll try (to sing) but if it doesn’t turn out well, it won’t come out. It is a very big task for me,” he said.
Kaywa is a highly respected music producer in Ghana and has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Kwabena Kwabena, Bisa Kdei, and Diana Hamilton.
He is known for his innovative production style and his ability to blend different genres of music.
