Kasoa: Police arrests 5 suspects over alleged Robbery syndicate

The Police Intelligence Unit of the Central East Regional Police Command has arrested five suspects believed to be involved in a robbery syndicate operating in parts of the Central Region.

The suspects were picked up after intelligence revealed that they were attempting to procure firearms to carry out a highway robbery operation.

Investigations indicate that the group is suspected of carrying out at least five major robberies in Kasoa, Agona Swedru, and Millennium City.

According to police sources, the arrest followed a tip-off after one of the suspects, identified as Bismark Amponsah, contacted an individual in Kasoa requesting guns for an intended robbery operation.

Unknown to him, the person he contacted was an undercover police officer attached to the Central East Regional Police Intelligence Unit.

The suspects were subsequently arrested during a coordinated operation and are currently in custody assisting with investigations.

They were arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court and have been remanded into custody pending further investigations. They are expected to reappear in court on May 27, 2026.

The Police say efforts are ongoing to track down any additional members linked to the suspected robbery network.
