Three people, including a journalist, are in critical condition following a clash between fire service personnel and local youths at Kasoa New Market in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.
The incident reportedly occurred after the youths were filming the fire service while they were quenching the blaze.
The Kasoa fire officers allegedly assaulted the boys who were helping them contain the fire, including the journalist for recording the scene.
The officers are also reported to have attacked some women who were filming the incident.
Over 100 shops were destroyed after a devastating fire gutted part of Kasoa New Market yesterday around 4:00 p.m.
The fire lasted for over seven hours before it was brought under control, following the arrival of eight fire tenders.
