A former caretaker of a piggery at Amuzukorpe, near Kasoa in the Central Region, has been sentenced to five months in prison for stealing and selling about 50 live pigs belonging to a farmer who had entrusted him with their care.

The convict, Evans Pinkreh, alias Kwame Adjei, was arrested by the Central East Regional Police Command in September 2024 after he was accused of stealing the pigs and selling them.

He was subsequently arraigned before the Akweley District Court on December 28, 2024, following investigations into the case.

After a full trial, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to five months in prison on August 29, 2026.

Speaking to the media, the Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Nchor, said the conviction forms part of the Command’s efforts to combat crime and protect property within the region.

He assured residents that the Police would continue to pursue individuals involved in criminal activities and work to safeguard lives and property.
