Madam Diana Nyankopah Daniels, CEO of Peace Watch Ghana, has called for urgent intervention from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Chief Justice over escalating land guard activities in Kasoa.
At a press briefing, Madam Nyankopah expressed concerns over the increasing violence and intimidation by land guards, leaving developers in fear.
She shared her personal experience of purchasing two plots of land in 1990, only to discover in 2019 that the land was registered in the name of Alhaji B.E. Swanzy.
Madam Nyankopah alleged that a man named Apamars is attempting to take over the land, which she has possessed since 1990.
She appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, the IGP, Chief Justice, and Hon. Hawa Komson to intervene and remove the land guards from Kasoa.
“I’m not going to leave the land for Apamars until he kills me,” Madam Nyankopah stated, emphasizing the need for urgent action to ensure the safety and security of Kasoa residents.
Mr. Foster Kwame Acheampong, a resident, said a devastating crisis is unfolding in Kasoa, where land guards are allegedly killing, chasing, and displacing residents to seize their lands.
Kwame Acheampong, a victim of the violence, spoke out against the attacks, highlighting the case of Madam Diana Nyankopah, whose land is being targeted despite clear ownership.
“The land belongs to Madam Diana Nyankopah, but some individuals are using land guard power to forcefully take it from her,” Mr. Acheampong confirmed.
The situation remains dire, with residents living in constant fear of land guard attacks. The authorities are urged to intervene immediately.
