The Kasoa Ofaankor Circuit Court has remanded two individuals who posed as national security officers into police custody. In contrast, four military officers have been handed over to the military police following a chieftaincy dispute at Awutu Kwashie Abbey in the Awutu Senya West District.
According to Oyerepa News Correspondent Nana Ansah, the two alleged national security operatives and four military personnel were arrested by the Awutu Bawjiase Police Command after clashes erupted between the Ofaankor Asafo group and the security officers, who were reportedly protecting an illegal installation of a chief at Awutu Kwashie Abbey.
Speaking to Nana Ansah after the court proceedings, the leader of the Ofaankor Asafo group, Supi Nipa Nka, expressed disappointment in the police for not presenting the four military officers before the court.
The military personnel, who were instead taken into custody by the military police, have been identified as Sergeant Henry Mensah, Lance Corporal Randy Nsiah, Sergeant Joseph Akaasinab, and Corporal Henry Anglow.
Meanwhile, Supi Nipa Nka commended the Bawjiase Police Command for their efforts in restoring peace to the community.
