Ghana Goalkeeper, Jojo Wollacott is confident the Black Stars can come good next year in Ivory Coast to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The Black Stars exited the 2019 edition from the group stage following the team’s shambolic display under Serbian manager Milovan Rajevac.
However, Wollacott who recently was named the best Goalkeeper in the EFL League Two, believes the West African giants have the potential to emerge champions next year in Cote d’Ivoire
The Black Stars of Ghana were recently handed a tricky draw for the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) when the draw was held in Johannesburg.
Ghana was placed in Group E, alongside 2019 debutants Madagascar, 2010 hosts Angola and the Central African Republic.
The Black Stars are looking to end a 41-year wait to win the AFCON trophy since last laying their hands on the trophy in 1982. But the team will first need to secure their qualification for the main tournament which takes place in Ivory Coast next year.
“We have the potential as a country so I don’t see why we can’t. Obviously, we are disappointed with the most recent AFCON exit following the outcome of our performance at the tournament but I’m sure we can work hard and be the most successful and we can win it.” Wollacott told Oyerepa FM in an exclusive interview.
