Jack Alolome reveals how mentioning Prez Mahama helped his visa application
Ghanaian gospel artiste Jack Alolome has disclosed how his relationship with President John Dramani Mahama played an unexpected role in helping him obtain a visa to the United States after several unsuccessful attempts.
Speaking in a video circulating on social media, the veteran musician recounted the difficulties he faced during previous visa interviews, revealing that he had been denied entry permits on three separate occasions. According to him, language barriers became a major obstacle during the application process, making it difficult for him to effectively communicate with consular officials.
Determined not to experience another setback, Jack Alolome said he adopted a different approach during his most recent application. Taking advice from a friend, he requested the assistance of an interpreter to help him answer questions during the interview.
“I was determined during this recent trip. One of my friends had used a translator during his visa application and advised me to do the same. So when I got there, I requested a translator. While speaking through the translator, I mentioned that I sing for the president,” he said.
The gospel musician explained that the atmosphere of the interview changed immediately after he disclosed that he occasionally performs at events involving President John Dramani Mahama. According to him, the interviewer appeared intrigued by the revelation and paid closer attention to his application.
“The moment the consular officer heard that I sang for the president, she stopped typing and seemed surprised. That was how I got my visa to travel to the United States,” he added.
Jack Alolome is widely known in Ghana’s gospel music industry for his energetic performances and inspirational songs. Over the years, he has built relationships with several influential figures, including political leaders, through his music ministry and public appearances.
