The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr. Samuel Pyne has warned individuals who are extorting the pockets of traders within the city.
According to him, some people are taking huge sums of money from traders in his (Sam Pyne) name, claiming that, they will get them shops at the Kumasi Central Market. The KMA boss says those guys are thieves and should not be recognized.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the KMA boss said, he has not asked anybody to take money from traders.
‘I have not ordered anybody to collect money from traders in the name of giving them stores at Kumasi Central Market. Anybody found of doing that would be dealt with.” He warned.
Sam Pyne stated that, Central Market shops are not acquired outside. Anyone who wants the a shop can write an application to the KMA and due process wound be taken.
He however urged the public not to pay any money to individual.
”If anybody comes to you for money that he/she is sending to Sam Pyne for you to get central market shop, report the person to the police for arrest” The Mayor urged.
