Multiple award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician and songwriter Diana Hamilton says she has never given money in the form of a bribe (payola) to radio DJs or presenters to play her songs.
Speaking on Power FM, the award-winning artist said she built a good relationship with the DJs and presenters so she does not need to pay them to play her songs.
“I believe in relationships. Maybe my personality may not allow me to call everyone every day but if you are my friend I treat you as a friend, so I call you on an ordinary day, or I will hear it is your birthday and if I have the ability I will send you a present or buy you a cake,” she noted.
“I believe in relationships because if I have to pay you, I cannot pay you,” she added.
Diana emphasized that if she gives money to presenters, she does not do so to influence them to play her song but because of the relationship they have.
“So if anybody says I gave him or her money to lay my song, it will be nice for the person to come out,” Diana further stated.
