When names of Ghanaian musicians who churn out songs with cavernous lyrical content are being mentioned, never can the name of popular Highlife/Hiplife artiste, Kofi Kinaata be exempted.
Apart from his rap prowess, he has grown into a very good singer, taking the Highlife/Hiplife genre by storm. He is the only Ghanaian musician who has won the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Songwriter of the Year award on four occasions.
In 2021, he won the “Vodafone Green Award”, an award which is given to musicians for using their craft to drive environmental awareness and sustainability on the planet.
The multiple award-winning Highlife/Hiplife artiste is well-known for great songs such as ‘Things Fall Apart’, ‘Susuka’, ‘Behind The Scenes’, ‘Last Show’ and many more.
Kinaata, who won the ‘Artiste Of the Year’ award at this Year’s Ghana Music Awards USA is currently out with his newest song dubbed ‘Everyday’.
While speaking about the new song in an exclusive interview on Citi fm, the ‘Things Fall Apart’ hitmaker who was answering a question in line with the secret behind his inordinate lyrical prowess sarcastically said:
” I have been here( World) before…I am a reincarnate”.
On whether he grew up living with his grandparents which may have been the reason behind his cavernous lyrical contents, the ‘Susuka’ crooner accentuated sorrowfully that:
“I don’t even know my grandparents, I never saw them…they died before I was born… I lived with my parents…I grew up in a compound house in Takoradi…I was very inquisitive…I like asking a lot of questions”.
