Eno Barony, a prominent Ghanaian female rapper, privately known as Ruth Eno Adjoa Amankwah Nyame Adom has stated that she has no issue with rappers exploring singing. This comes as many rap music enthusiasts in Ghana have expressed concerns that rappers are shifting their focus to singing instead of honing their rap skills.
According to the “Soja Go Soja Come” crooner, on Oyerepa Entertainment Review hosted by MFK, music is diverse and dynamic, and if a rapper has a talent for singing, they should explore it.
“I don’t see anything wrong with rappers venturing into singing, it’s all music”. Eno stated.
She emphasized that no musician is limited to a single genre, and artists should be free to experiment and showcase their versatility.
“In music, we have diversity, so if somebody is a rapper it doesn’t mean he or she can’t sing. The people we look up to are hip-hop artists, for instance, Drake is always singing, and Kanye West is always singing… So I don’t see anything wrong with that… Music is a God-given talent so if the person is singing, no problem. I sing in most of my tracks, so there’s nothing wrong with it.”
Eno Barony is currently in Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti for the promotion and activation of her much trending, music album dubbed: “No Manual Album”.
