Minister in charge of Government Communication and Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed allegations suggesting that Anne Sansa Daly is affiliated with former President John Dramani Mahama as his personal physician.
The controversy follows the revocation of Anne Sansa Daly’s appointment to the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) over concerns about her lack of a valid medical license to practice in Ghana.
Social media reports have widely circulated claims that Daly served as President Mahama’s doctor. However, in an interview on Oyerepa TV’s Breakfast Time with host Kwesi Parker-Wilson on June 1, 2025, Kwakye Ofosu firmly denied the allegations.
“It is not true. I have known President Mahama’s physician, who has worked with him for several years. He is a prominent, highly qualified medical doctor. This lady [Sansa Daly] has never been close to the president before, and her claims are not true,” he stated. “I can tell you on authority that she has never been the president’s physician. Some people have flagged the post as fake.”
Addressing the revocation of Daly’s board appointment, the minister clarified that her nomination had already been withdrawn prior to the NHIA board’s inauguration. As a result, she was never officially sworn in by the Minister of Health.
“The lady did not even attend the inauguration because at that time, her nomination had been withdrawn. The documents showed that she wasn’t even holding the appointment, and that goes to prove that the government took action even before the issue became public,” Kwakye Ofosu explained.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, adding that they remain open to public feedback and concerns.
“As a government, we are ready to listen and act if people draw our attention to issues we may not be aware of. It is a better way to serve people than to ignore concerns when they arise,” he concluded.
