Former Nigeria star winger Tijani Babangida, says “It’s always a great feeling to play against a country like Ghana”
The former Ajax player, however, adds that the Super Eagles always double their preparations ahead of matches against the Black Stars of Ghana.
Ghana faces laborious task as they come up against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a two legged World Cup play off.
Ghana had a disastrous Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Cameroon recently where they went out in group stages but many are confident they can book a place in Ghana.
Speaking exclusively on Oyerepa FM’s Today Sports hosted by Eugene Adu Poku (Striker) ahead of the epic clash, Babangida confirmed that playing against the Black Stars of Ghana comes with a great feeling.
“It’s always a great feeling to play against a country like Ghana. In the last qualifying match in Nigeria at Port Harcourt was 3-0 and I scored two goals. Those goals are memorable goals and I will never forget them in my career,” Babangida said.
“Playing against Ghana is everything, it is a derby game, matches between Ghana and Nigeria is always a do-or-die affair.
Asked whether the Super Eagles embark on special preparations ahead of their matches against Ghana, the former VVV-Venlo, Roda JC Ajax, and Vitesse star said: ” Of course, always the preparation is double ahead of matches against Ghana.
“It’s double than all the other matches because playing against Ghana is very difficult and no one can predict the outcome of such games until they come to an end.” He added.
Ghana has one last hurdle to cross before booking a place at Qatar and it is a two legged affair with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Ghana will first host the Super Eagles on March 25, 2022 at the Baba Yara Stadium with the second leg is slatted for March 29, 2022 in Abuja.
