The National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has criticized the Akufo-Addo government for its failure to address the ongoing issue of erratic power outages, known as “DUMSOR,” in the country.
Ghana has been grappling with a severe electricity crisis for several months now, causing significant disruptions to daily life.
Despite mounting pressure from the public for the Electricity Company of Ghana to release a load-shedding schedule, the government has chosen to ignore the calls of the Ghanaian people.
The Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, once asked Ghanaians advocating for the issuance of a load-shedding timetable by the ECG to publish their own proposed schedules.
President Akufo-Addo, delivering his speech at the Workers’ Day observation, assured Ghanaians that the erratic power supply, popularly known as ‘dumsor’, that they face in recent times will soon be a thing of the past.
In response to the government’s inability to address the issue of power outages during a conversation on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Sammy Gyamfi asserted that the NPP lacks the expertise needed to resolve the problem of dumsor.
“Now that we are in dumsor and because of these arrogant leaders, we don’t have a timetable. Recently on May Day, Akufo-Addo said dumsor is over. This government is full of lies. If we are trusting this government to fix dumsor, then it will take us over 20 years. They don’t know how to do it.” He told Kwesi Parker-Willson, host of the show.
