Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall musician, Living stone Etse Satekla, widely known as Stonebwoy has voiced his displeasure at how some Ghanaians drag entertainers on social media expecting them to act strong and be used to such mental torture because they are celebrities.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, the renowned musician stated that most of his fans are very constructive when it comes to criticism however, some fans of other musicians will always aim at dragging others unnecessarily within the digital space.
He explained that some fans on social media take things too personal, thereby attacking the subject of the troll personally instead of generalising their insistence and making them constructive for the betterment of everyone involved.
Stonebwoy also said that people should stop the perception that celebrities are supposed to get used to insults and trolls because these actually affect them mentally since they are also humans and could be broken easily.
“Generally, we should understand that these things affect people a lot, they are not things we are supposed to be used to, it is not natural to be used to insults that people would say you are an artist so you should be used to insults, come on we are humans”, he said.
He, therefore, appealed to the Twitter community to desist from subjecting people especially, celebrities to harsh and insensitive criticism on social media.
