Members of the Defence and Interior Committee in Parliament have visited the Islamic Senior High School at Abrepo in Kumasi on a fact-finding mission following a demonstration and shooting incident that occurred in the school recently.
The Committee is led by the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong who doubles as the chairman of the Committee, the Deputy Chairperson and MP for Mfantseman East, Ophelia Quansah Hayford, the Ranking Member for the Committee and MP for Builsa North James Agalga and other members on the Committee visited the school on the Speaker of Parliament’s delegation on a fact-finding mission brought the work to a close yesterday.
In an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Show with the Ranking Member of the Committee, James Agalga, he indicated that the committee have brought their fact-finding mission to an end and will be meeting parliament later today to present their findings and recommendations before the house.
He disclosed that the committee realized the school had written to the Urban Roads since 2010 for them to be provided with a speed rump but to no avail.
He further commended the Inspector General of Police, Dr Akufo Dampare for interdicting some of the Officers to assist with investigations.
“I think the interdiction of some of the officers is a step in the right direction, “ he stated.
