Ashanti Regional Executive Officer of Department of Children, Madam Annor Abbey has advised parents to invest in their children’s education as they put in their pension scheme.
According to her, education is the key to every child’s success therefore there is the need to prioritize the schooling of their wards as they invest in the pension schemes.
She said the education of the girl child should be the topmost precedence of every parent.
She made the statement during the commemoration of the International Day of the Child in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital on the theme: “Better Future for Every Child”
Superintendent Evelyn Amoako – Antwi from the Regional Domestic Violence Support Unit who spoke at the event also called on parents and teachers to respect the rights of their wards and keep them closer to themselves in order to share their (Children) problems with them (parents) to avoid peer pressure.
Executive Director of Right and Responsibilities Initiative Ghana (RRIG), Madam Aba Oppong who is also an advocate for young women and children’s empowerment also mentioned that the future of every nation largely depends on its children as a result guardians must protect their kids from anything that will destroy their future.
She however entreated the young ones to respect their parents or guardians and as well be disciplined to have a better future.
Madam Aba on the other hand called on the government of Ghana and all stakeholders to offer stiffer punishment to people who may violate the right of any child.
