Intraco Ltd, a Belgian company renowned for its production and global distribution of animal nutrition products, in partnership with local agribusiness Sky Agro and Aquaculture, has organised a one-day sensitisation seminar for at least 300 poultry farmers in the middle belt of Ghana.
The event took place in Kumasi and brought together dozens of poultry farmers seeking to improve productivity and profitability on their farms.
Themed “Egg Shell Quality, Homogeneity in Feed and How to Boost Laying Performance with Intraco 5% Layer Concentrates,” the seminar aimed to equip farmers with the latest knowledge on feed formulation and effective product use to tackle common challenges in poultry production.
Speaking to Oyerepa News Reporter, Joseph Marfo, the Chief Executive Officer of Sky Agro and Aquaculture, Alfred Kwame Agbetsise, emphasised the critical need for education on proper feed application.
“Our main purpose of coming here is to educate our poultry farmers about the proper application of our concentrate and products under our control — the 5% concentrate, 35% broiler concentrate, and our new product on the block, OptiShell,” he explained.

Agbetsise noted that while some farmers use the correct feed products, many still face challenges due to improper formulations.
“Most of the poultry farmers experience losses as a result of breakages and small egg sizes. So we have made tailored additive concentrates to address those shortcomings in their farms,” he added.
The seminar also addressed issues surrounding biosecurity, a crucial aspect of disease prevention in poultry farming.
Speaking on the topic, Goodman Sarfo Kantanka, a lecturer at the Department of Animal Science, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), urged farmers to strengthen on-farm biosecurity measures.
“Let’s make biosecurity on our farms very strong in order to prevent diseases that may affect poultry and, in turn, boost production,” Kantanka advised.

The event forms part of a broader initiative by Intraco to expand its reach across Africa while addressing the unique challenges faced by local farmers with customised solutions.
Both Intraco Ltd and Sky Agro reiterated their commitment to supporting Ghanaian poultry farmers with quality products and continuous education.
