The Ministry for the Interior has announced revised curfew hours for Bawku and Nalerigu townships, along with their surrounding communities, following recommendations from the National Security Council.
Effective Thursday, July 31, 2025, the new curfew will be in force from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., replacing the previous schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The revised curfew applies to the Bawku Municipality in the Upper East Region and the East Mamprusi Municipality in the North East Region.
In a statement, the government urged Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, youth groups, and residents to remain calm and continue to seek peaceful and non-violent solutions to local concerns.
The Ministry also reminded the public that a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons remains in effect within the affected areas. Violators will face arrest and prosecution.
Reaffirming its commitment to restoring peace and stability, the government called on all stakeholders to support ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the region.
