The Interior Ministry has announced the extension of curfew hours in Walewale and its surrounding areas.
According to a statement from the Ministry, following the recommendation of the North East Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, the curfew in Walewale and its environs in the North East Region will now be in effect from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am, starting Monday, June 9, 2025.
The government also urges Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents of the area to remain calm amid current challenges and to channel their efforts peacefully to maintain stability.
Additionally, there is a strict ban on anyone in Walewale and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons. Individuals found in possession of such items will face arrest and prosecution.
