Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has confirmed that four individuals have been arrested and granted bail in connection with the major cocaine bust that occurred in Cape Coast earlier this year.
Addressing Parliament on July 9, 2025, the Minister provided updates on the March 2025 incident, during which operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) intercepted a tipper truck at Pedu Junction. The truck was found to be transporting approximately 3.3 tonnes of cocaine concealed beneath a layer of sand.
“Beyond the arrest of the driver and his assistant, four additional individuals were apprehended and subsequently granted bail,” Muntaka disclosed.
He added that two prime suspects remain at large and are actively being pursued by security agencies.
The Interior Minister assured Parliament of the government’s continued dedication to fighting narcotics trafficking and pledged that law enforcement agencies would work tirelessly to bring all those involved to justice.
According to a report by citinewsroom.com on July 10, the next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 24, 2025.
