The Chief Linguist, (Juaben Manhene Kyeame) who doubles as President-General of West Africa Noble Forum, Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso, has made a passionate appeal to the government of Ghana to increase the End of Service Package for teachers to the level of what is enjoyed by Article 71 officeholders.
In his opinion, teachers also deserve to enjoy the kind of juicy ex-gratia that Article 71 Officeholders, such as the President, the Vice-President, Speaker of Parliament, Chief Justice, and the Justices of the Supreme Court enjoy when they retire from active service.
Speaking at the launch of Juaben senior high school’s 50th anniversary, Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso said, he does not understand why teachers who taught those beneficiaries go home after the end of their service with a paltry sum of money whereas article 71 officeholders go on retirement with heft amount of money.
Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso indicated that there is a need for the government to re-strategise and give teachers huge amounts at the end of their service.
