Mr Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, the former Member of Parliament for Ejisu constituency has disowned his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in terms of defending their policies.
According to him, under no circumstance can he defend the claims he has not made.
Prior to 2016 elections, President Akufo-Addo made a comment that, the “country is sitting on a too much money, yet Ghanaians” are starving and that when he and the NPP were voted to power the sufferings of the people would be a thing of the past”.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo and his party are in their second term of office , yet many Ghanaians believe that, their woes have overly multiplied.
President Akufo-Addo in one of his recent interviews admitted that, Ghanaians are indeed suffering.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time last Friday, after Mr Aduomi, Former deputy minister of roads and highways was asked if Akufo-Addo’s statement in 2016 was true, he said
I didn’t make that statement so I can’t defend it. Every politician has the basis of making a comment so when you get Akufo-Addo in your studio ask him that question, but me Aduomi, I can’t defend it.”
Reacting to the backlash from many Ghanaians towards the NPP over their poor economic management of the state, Mr Aduomi said, he does not have the capacity to defend his party because he is not an economist.
“I’m not an economist so I can’t defend NPP… I didn’t study economics in school, I’m an engineer therefore when it comes to economics and finance, don’t push me there because I can’t defend NPP.”
“On what basis will I challenge someone who will argue about the country’s economy? If I’m to do so, I must have some facts but I don’t know anything about economic management so how do I defend NPP? ” he enquired.
The former lawmaker stated on the show that he will contest for the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairmanship position in April.
Subsequently, people are of the view that once Aduomi cannot defend his party on all fronts, his victory at the election will be very cumbersome.
