The founder and leader of the Seventh Day Theocratic World Congregation, Apostle Kadmiel E.H. Agbalenyoh, has made a bold declaration to take the matter to the Supreme Court if President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo refuses to assent to the Human Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021, commonly known as the Anti-gay Bill.
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the Parliament of Ghana passed the Promotion of Human Rights and Family Values Bill, also known as the anti-LGBT+ bill. This bill prohibits Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) activities and makes it illegal to promote, advocate, or fund them.
Individuals found guilty of promoting, advocating, or funding LGBTQ activities will face a minimum of three years and a maximum of five years in prison upon conviction.
For the bill to become law, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo must give his assent, or approval.
During the celebration of the biblical New Year, 1st Abib, 6021 in Accra, Apostle Kadmiel Agbalenyoh expressed his gratitude to Parliament for passing the bill into law.
Apostle E.H. Agbalenyoh urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to promptly assent to the bill. Otherwise, they will take him to the Supreme Court to explain to Ghanaians why he refused to sign the bill.
Apostle Kadmiel E.H. Agbalenyoh expressed disappointment in those who opposed the passage of the Anti-gay Bill, stating that they do not understand what is best for the country.
