The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has issued a strong warning to government officials against embezzlement and other criminal activities, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring offenders face the full force of the law.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Dr. Ayine emphasized that he has the backing of President John Mahama to prosecute individuals found culpable following investigations.
Citing an ongoing case, he referenced the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu Boahene, who is currently in custody for allegedly diverting $7 million in public funds into his personal accounts. The funds, he noted, were originally allocated for the procurement of cybersecurity infrastructure.
According to Dr. Ayine, Ghana had been turned into a crime scene over the past eight years, and the Mahama-led administration is determined to expose and address these corrupt practices.
“This is a warning to every public official listening to me—if you engage in anything like what suspect Adu Boahene did, I will come after you. I have the authority of the President to act, and I will not hesitate,” he cautioned.
Dr. Ayine also praised the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for its relentless efforts in combating corruption and recovering stolen state assets.
The Attorney General’s remarks signal a renewed crackdown on corruption as the government intensifies efforts to restore accountability in public service.
