Following comments on his wedding post suggesting he needed medical attention based on his appearance, Akwaboah Jnr. has sarcastically dismissed concerns by asserting his good health, particularly in response to suggestions for a kidney checkup.
Akwaboah tied the knot with his 28-year-old partner, Theresa, in May, in a private ceremony. Videos from the event attracted views and commentaries, with some observers suggesting that the musician appeared unwell.
Among the commenters were acclaimed doctors who expressed concern about Akwaboah’s health and recommended that he undergo a kidney checkup to prevent any potential deterioration in his condition.
In response to the comments during an interview on The Delay Show, Akwaboah, adopting a cheeky and humorous tone, said, “I’ll check my oesophagus instead.”
He elaborated, stating, “For all the times I’ve been posting pictures and videos, nobody noticed I was unwell until my wedding? Let’s be honest with ourselves. Growth comes with its challenges. I have children, a mother, siblings, and responsibilities. Life throws obstacles that we must overcome.”
Without equivocation, the musician maintained that nothing was wrong with him, stressing that his health was intact.
“I’m fine,” he said in the interview monitored by GhanaWeb.
Meanwhile, Akwaboah has addressed the wave of mockery and criticism following his wedding ceremony, particularly regarding his decision to wipe his lips after kissing his bride.
He clarified that this gesture was not meant to imply that he didn’t enjoy the kiss, as some have suggested. Instead, he explained that he simply wanted to avoid having his face look awkward, as lipstick can sometimes smear after a kiss.
“Nobody marries their enemies. That’s the choice I made, I’m happy about it,” he said.
“I have performed at many wedding ceremonies. I have noticed that after the bride and groom kiss, the groom would have lipstick all over his lips. So, I didn’t clean because of what people were saying out there; I cleaned because I knew her lipstick would be all over my lips. So, for my face not to look awkward, I had to clean it,” Akwaboah added.
