Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has stated that he will be surprised if Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is not retained as running mate of the NDC.
The opposition party is preparing to elect its presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections. But many NDC members believe that former President John Mahama is the best candidate to lead the party.
The lawmaker had predicted that Professor Naana would be retained as his running mate in 2023.
Speaking about his forecast on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, Mr. Ablakwa said he will be shocked if Professor Naana Opoku-Agyeman is not retained as running mate.
“It will be a shock to me if Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is not picked as a running mate for John Mahama.
Though it’s the prerogative of the president to choose his running mate, I’m not sure there will be disagreement if the president decides to look in a different direction, but as I’m predicting, I would find that surprising, and it will be a shock to me.” He told Kwesi Parker-Wilson, the host of the show.
He explained that Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang contributed massively to the party in the 2020 election.
“Prof. Naana, helped the party in the 2020 general elections. We were able to win more seats, from four to thirteen in the central region. She conducts herself very well. She has rejected numerous international invitations; her track record will help the party in 2024.”
