Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has come under profound criticisms after it came out that he is the lead counsel for Aisha Huang’s four co-accused in a case related to galamsey.
Lucy Ekeleba Blay, a private legal practitioner, in court on Tuesday (October 11), said that she was holding brief for Freddie Blay in the case of the four accomplices in the persons of Gao Jin Cheng, Lu Qi Jun, Haibin Go and Zhang Zhipeng.
However, Freddie Blay has no regrets in defending Gao Jin Cheng, Lu Qi Jun, Haibin Go and Zhang Zhipeng on the accusation of galamsey.
In an exclusive interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Freddie Blay stated that he would be very disappointed if the President of the Republic asked him to stop defending the trio.
“Should Akufo-Addo ask me to stop defending these three accomplices in court it will worry me.”
“The four accomplices I’m defending were not doing galamsey.” According to him.
Blay said they came to his office to seek his defence so “I appointed my daughter to handle their case.”
He disclosed that Gao Jin Cheng, Lu Qi Jun, Haibin Go and Zhang Zhipeng are innocent of the said crime, more importantly, they are even broke, therefore he will continue to defend them until they are set free.
